So, my house rules basically make use of the Bonus Point table in the character creation chapter (with some modifications such as cheaper charms) with 2 XP = 1 BP to make progression linear rather than exponential. It really encouraged heavily over-specializing early in the game, then never diversifying your skill set. However, the character progression in 2E always bothered me. We haven't started play, so my character progression house rules haven't actually been tested yet.
